so i hate messes. yeah i know, why have kids, they are full of them. i can tolerate my share of "oops" messes, but when the kids get in to things they KNOW they shouldn't and make a huge mess, that's when my patience runs out. take peanut butter for instance, yeah you rub it in your hair when you get gum stuck in it, but do you want it anywhere else but on bread? (or in cookies) no i'm thinkin not. well, apparently kathryn felt differently. she thought it would make a great toy/snack for her and daniel. she grabbed it off the counter (before we woke up) and brought it to daniel in his room. they had their fun, who knows what exactly went on, i was sleeping. they finally come find me when they are done. i hear "mommy mommy i hungy" from kathryn, so i climb out of bed (without my glasses) and i see her and daniel all happy to see me. i go in the kitchen to find the assalted peanut butter jar on the counter
...UHHH...that doesn't look right, i go in for a closer view (i'm blind without my glasses) and see the jar is empty and the beanut butter is all over the outside! i quickly get my glasses on to discover that daniel is covered in peanut butter! i begin looking around the kitchen for the spot this crime took place at, but couldn't find anything, i scanned through the house, and finally i found some peanut butter on daniel's bed. i went to clean that up, and found some on the curtain,
then a spot on the floor, then more on the floor, then the whole back of the curtain was covered as was the window and window sill, and spots here and there on the walls on the door handle, door frame, door, etc. i kept finding the dang peanut butter spots everywhere!!
once i quarantined the kids to the tub, i thought to myself, how in the world am i going to get something as greasy as peanut butter off these kids??? thank you Dawn soap. you were a lifesaver. i had to scrub daniel down 3 times with dawn before he started feeling normal. it was sad...it reminded me of greasy dishes. yuck! peanut butter on the carpet...DAWN it. luckily i have a carpet cleaner attatchment to my Rainbow vacuum. i seriously never want to have to do that again. at least not with peanut butter.
you gotta click the picture to get the full size view so you can see just how covered he was. head to toe!
kathryn was smeared too. but daniel had the worst of it.

oh, but this morning, the kids were apparently really bored before i woke up at 7:45, so kathryn decided to get a full half gallon of blue bell dutch chocolate ice cream out of our freezer, left the door open, brought it over to the couch/coffee table area and went at it. i have no idea how much either of them actually ate...but it ended up all over the couch, coffee table, and of course, the floor. and i even found a towel with some in it. then they had enough of that, so they literally dumped the ice cream back in the freezer(bottom drawer freezer), and went out in the garage and jumped in the car and turned the lights on and messed with everything in there before coming in our room. not only did the ice cream get all over the freezer, but because they left it open, most of the stuff defrosted to a degree. UUUUUGHHH! how do you even punish that! i had to hurry and get her ready for school, so no time to punish her, or clean any of it up right away. more UGHHH. i only took a picture of the carpet which had ice cream soaked through...but it finally for the most part came up.

Ge'ez! I suggest turning their bedroom doors so they lock from the outside! Lock them in their rooms until you wake up! lol I guess that's kinda dramatic but atleast they'll stay safe and clean in their room instead of getting into everything!!
haha actually lisa, that was one of the first things we did when we moved in, and then we stopped cuz they were being better, but in the last week, they have gotten into too many things, so the doors get locked again! i don't care if some think it's cruel, they can come clean up the mess they make!
Personally I thing the PB is freakin hilarious. But the ice cream is sooo not cool! Gross and chocolate on the carpet. If there is one thing I've learned about a house, it doesn't stay clean for long and in your case it won't be "NEW" forever. But a solution that has worked for my office is this, we had a laser beam of sorts installed so when cars come into our lot we know and can expect where they are going next. Kinda like an alarm when you open a door it dings. Only the buzzer thing would be in your room and let me just say in my huge office you can hear it perfectly from one end to the other. That way you can get out of bed when it dings in your ear. But you would probably only want to turn it on overnight/AM. Gets very annoying quickly :) THE END
sounds like seriously inquisitive imaginative kids...i can certainly relate. If u have not had a chance yet...DO childproof as much as possible....seriously. Like chemicals, knives, other household stuff like superglue, tools, etc...My own had some very close calls with some very serious injury. Ul be glad u did. And lock the door or get a movement sensor/detector like Jenn said...they work. It is hard to get up before they too all the time, so take safety measures for just these occasions so the little "sweeties" aren't getting hurt! Much love, and I soooo feel ur tiredness and frustration, good luck. Jolie
