pictures, and a lil catching up.

my sweet boy is a thumb sucker, but it's just so darn cute! he puts himself to sleep so i'm not complaining.
he is so amazing with those bright blue eyes and long DARK eyelashes...it's incredibly rare for their eyelashes to be so dark so early. but he's a special little guy!
so all those darn beanie babies daddy bought for me when i was young and i collected...are finally passed down to kathryn, and SHE LOVES THEM! who woulda thought! her favorite place is right in the container with all of them! it reminds me of myself at her age (pictures at least)
she's my beautiful little girl. this is a day or so before she got her glasses.
so this is the morning after we finally got kathryn's glasses. she looks pretty happy? i'm not so much digging them, but that's just because i'd rather her not be plagued with vision problems. but alas. we took her to the eye doctor because of a growth on her eye that she has had since birth, and we wanted to make sure it was nothing to worry about. yeah, i know, we should've taken her sooner, but with what they had to do, i'm kinda glad i waited. anyhow, we discovered that she is farsighted, a +8 in one eye, and a +9 in the other. EXTREMELY farsighted. she was also diagnosed with being cross-eyed, and hopefully the glasses will fix that. the growth on her eye is called a limbal dermatoid, and shouldn't affect her vision, athough the vision is slightly worse in that eye with the growth. she also has an astigmatism, which, as it was explained to me, is having oval shaped eyeballs, rather than round, which means, her vision will most likely never improve. it may get worse though. always nice to know. so if she ever wants to get rid of these bottle cap glasses, and go with contacts, she will have to get the growth on her eye removed. it's just a blow to the chest to hear that your little girl isn't perfect, and that she has all these problems. no one wants their child to come up with all these afflictions, and when you find out something is wrong...well... it certainly doesn't make you happpy. ya know. yeah, i get it, there are worse things that could happen...but how do i know that they won't? i feel like, now that i know she has this issue, what else is wrong with her? are there other explainations for her differences? like, she still can't talk...not for lack of coaching on my part, and she is 2 1/2. we had her hearing tested, and she can hear just fine...she is really clumsy, running into walls, tripping over nothing, falling...does she have a balance problem? is there something wrong with her inner ear? and she is almost always with a cold, runny nose, etc. does she have immune problems??? and the more i analyze her, the more problem areas i find. it's just...hard to describe this feeling of anguish. but she sure is a sweetheart. she cuddles with me, helps me around the house (when she realizes i'm trying to get stuff done) AND she is potty trained!!! YESSS she is FINALLY ahead of the group of kids about her age. the first one to be potty trained. so she is capable. and she succeeded. it's just that i want her to excel. to be happy. >>>
i love this picture. he is such a sweet boy.

the saddest face. but so cute!
i love his eyes, i think they may stay blue.

he's staring at his froggie. i think his vision is ok. lol.
kathryn outside at Mimi's house. she loved the flowers, and wanted them all in her hair.

I love love love the pictures. Yes I remember when you would plant yourself right in the middle of toys. it was so funny. I'm excited for Kathryn's glasses. I noticed she is too, even though she can't tell us that, I can sooo tell. I think when you have kids (but what do I know) you are supposed to learn and grow with them. I mean you aren't supposed to know everything there is about kids and their ailments. From what I understand from mom and my MIL that is why your first is so special. I think you should look at this the same way. She has overcome this now and it will be the next building block of what is to come. Look at Averi Rose on my blog list. That is Kelli Schexnayder's little girl. She has a really good attitude about her poor little doll of a daughter.
